Michaela & Stuart’s Dode Church Wedding

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many wonderful weddings and I love the fact that each wedding is unique in its own way. Every now and again I come across a couple who dare to do things a little differently and I relish the opportunity to capture their wedding. It gives me the chance to highlight those details which set it apart from the rest.

Michaela and Stuart’s Dode Church wedding was definitely a day with a difference. It is one that neither I, or guests will forget, for all the right reasons!

The happy couple were married in Dode Church in Kent on a late afternoon in December. Although in the midst of winter, we were presented with a dry day. This afforded us the opportunity to make the most of the church’s stunning grounds just before the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was a truly romantic affair, with the couple exchanging their vows in a candlelight room, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The dark room boasted little lighting, which gave their photos a distinctly unique touch.

Following their vows, Michaela and Stuart’s wedding rings were delivered by Oscar the owl who’s entry was perfectly timed.

After their ceremony, both Michaela, Stuart and their guests had time for a few photos with Oscar shortly before heading to the Stone Circle for a unique hand fasting ceremony.

Down at the Stone Circle the hand fasting was underway. This ancient ceremony involved binding the couple’s “hearts and souls”, which was conducted by Doug, Dode’s Church keeper and was overseen by their guests and the Raven.

After the photos of Michaela and their guests the last shot of the day was a large group photo, with the splendid Dode church in the background.

I was impressed to hear that Michaela designed her own wedding dress, which perfectly fitted the feel for their day. The finishing touches from start to finish were impeccable, making it a day I will never forget.
Thank-you for inviting me to be a part of your special day.
